Season 2 is coming... That's right, we've declared podbankruptcy (or maybe just retroactive summer vacation). Season 2 of Jesus on the Radio will begin this fall. And when it does, look out. Jesus on the Radio, Season 2 By the way, if you're not subscribed, just add this url to your podcatcher, or just click here to subscribe in iTunes. You'll get the first episode of season 2 the moment it comes out! |

You know, when libsyn.com doesn't even autocomplete in your address bar anymore, you know it's been a while since your last post. So is this just another apologetic no-really-we're-going-to-podcast-again-I-promise post? In a word, kinda. If you heard the last (mini-)show (and I hope you did), you'll know that SarahKat is in quite the transition at the moment. No, she's not becoming a man, just moving. But moving very far away under some very tricky circumstances. I'll be honest, I don't even know where she is anymore, but she's almost certainly in Maine, and not quite in an apartment yet. I'd ask her, but she's never online, and last time she was she said she'd do a show with me last Wednesday... All in all, it's been a chaotic summer. We're even losing some listeners because of it. But that's ok. We'd rather have the best listeners than the most listeners, and you--oh person who hasn't yet had the heart to give up on us--you are one of those listeners. Thank you. Transmission will resume shortly. In the meantime, tune into Bucket. I just found them, and couldn't not subscribe. Great show. Peter

A special surprise mini-podcast from deep in the woods of Western Massachussets! I'm all by my irrationally-afraid-of-serial-killers-getting-me-in-the-night lonesome in Amherst, en route to a somewhat more permanent dwelling in Maine. Won't it be neat when I'm not moving all the time? I sure think so. Since Peter and I continue to be tens, if not dozens, of miles away from one another's computers (and each other), I decided to surprise my cohost and wonderful listeners with a brief glimpse into my hilariously (read: tragically) mobile life. Keep checking back for proper shows, but enjoy my ranting until then!
Oh, and by the way? We have awesome business cards now. I made them for that convention I couldn't end up getting to. If you ever see me or Peter (you'll know us when you do, or something) ask for a card. They're super-duper! Update (from Peter): Looks like SarahKat uploaded the wrong file. (She's a little new to the production side of things.) Stand by for the real thing. I'm curious to hear it myself... :) More Update (from SarahKat): Fixed it! I only needed a little help! |

Yup, more silence over here, I'm afraid. That's what moving will do to you. I'm not moving this time--SarahKat is. I expect we won't be able to another show until she's settled in a bit at the new place, which should be long. We can't wait to talk to you again. Thanks for sticking with us. :) Peter

My kingdom for GarageBand! I can't stand working in Audacity any longer. It's too slow, too clunky, too destructive. Ugh. Some errata: SarahKat, sadly, will not be at Connecticon this weekend. But then, if you're there trying to find her, you probably knew that already. Also, I'm no longer so thrilled with AppleCare. More in the next episode. Peter Show notes:

Whoa! It's someone OTHER than Peter writing on the good ol' JOTR site! And...it's me! Because no one else would write on the good ol' JOTR website...but...me. That was supposed to be really exciting, but I guess the fireworks and fanfare in my head just didn't translate into those exclamation points with sufficient bravado.
Anyhows, Peter let me in on the (stupidly simple) secret of how to update to the main page so you can hear MY side of the story, not just his. Though I guess I don't really want to shoulder the burden of doing show notes as detailed and hilarious as his, and I don't actually have anything of worth to say...Meh, let's just look at this as yet another place all my fans can hear me bitch 'n moan, and weren't you all jonesin' for that? I know I was! I'm somewhere in between near-homicide (living with family after graduating from college = very no), dank depression (I hate going weddings where you're the ONLY single person over the age of 15), blinding euphoria (Maine soon! *finally!*), and hunger. Mmm, I think we have roast beef...so I should let you return to your regularly scheduled internet browsing. Enjoy the new show, there's more to come! (For real this time, I promise.) (Man, I sure do use a lot of brackets and ellipses...) ~SarahKat |

We did it! A brand new show from our new studios. SK can record on her computer, so look for shows more regularly. This show was recorded over a week ago, and I couldn't get it up until now thanks to my computer issues. I'm using my girlfriend's computer, which doesn't have GarageBand, so I've spent the week wrestling with Audacity. But no matter, the show is here. Thanks for staying subscribed. It means a lot to know you listen. And to that end, please: Leave us a message: (206) 666-JOTR Or send us an email, or leave us a comment. That's what drives the show. Peter Show notes:

A spot of bad luck. My hard drive is down. Something about the directory being messed up. What's worse, I mey have lost even more data by running the fix-it program Apple gave me. Le sigh. Still, cheer up: SarahKat will be here Wednesday (for certain) and we will record a show. With my computer out, it might take a little work to get it up, but we'll do it for you, lovely listener. We'll also set SK up so we can podcast together remotely, wherever we are. Good things are coming. Thanks for staying subscribed!

This week (who are we kidding) on Jesus on the Radio: a flashback. SK's still not around, so Peter digs deep into the archives and pulls up a gem from the old WXBC days. It originaly aired Oct. 23, 2005. We really will have an all new show up soon, I promise. |

Don't worry, we haven't completely disappeared. It's been finals around here, and certain things just end up getting put off. Things like the podcast. And food. But we'll be back soon, hopefully this week. SK graduates soon, but she'll just be doing the show remotely starting this summer. And we have a brand new studio! By which I mean a room in my new apartment. That means fewer suitemates stomping around in the background. But don't worry, Kate will probably still make a guest appearance every once in a while... So, things are changing over here, but not too badly. Look for the next episode soon.

This week's episode is inspired by PW Fenton. If you heard the Beer Shoot Edition of Digital Flotsam, you'll know what health beer is. I did, and my curiosity got the better of me. In this episode, we sample some health beer, then pass it around to get the reactions of some of our unsuspecting guests. The drinking is all in celebration of SarahKat's (and everyone else's) senior project being done and in! Listen in and hear exactly how many cups of coffee she's drunk this month. It's not pretty... Oh, and Shagg are coming by tomorrow to play at Spring Fling here at Bard. If you're in the area, stop on by! Show starts at 2. Let us know if you're coming. Peter Show notes:

This week's show is going to be a little late. Ok, who are we kidding, we don't have a strict schedule anymore. That's what's neat about subscription: you get it whenever we post it. No need to keep checking the site.
Anyhow, as SarahKat mentioned in our last show, senior projects are due this Wednesday, so she and all the other seniors are a little frantic right now. Whether she will have any interest in doing a show later in the week remains to be seen. She may just be too drunk at that point.
Or, that may make for our finest show yet. We'll see.

Nothing to do with Jesus, but plenty to do with IKEA. What more can I say? Oh, and I went to see Brother Love. But mostly, it’s about IKEA. Peter Show notes:

The new mics are here! And boy does it sound nicer. Of course, now you can hear every little noise in the room, including my phone, which rings twice during the show. No matter, SarahKat, champ that she is, steps up to the plate for a quick solo performance. We talk about Brolo's show at Arlene's Grocery in this episode, which we recorded before it happened. I went, I had a blast, and I'll talk more about it on the next show. If you missed it, or if you're just itching to do it all over again, check him out at Crash Mansion on April 26th. More info on his site. Peter Show notes:

With luck, we'll record a show tonight or tomorrow night. Tomorrow's better because we'll be able to get to the new mics, which should be sitting in the closed post office right now. So, because I'm not sure how soon the show will be up, I'll ask here first: who's going to see Brolo this Thursday? I am so incredibly excited about the show. If you don't know, Brother Love will be playing Arlene's Grocery in NYC. Here's the details: Brother Love Live! If you're going, drop me a line, either in the comments or via email at jesusradio@gmail.com. I'm looking for some company since SarahKat, and most of my friends, are too busy with senior projects to come. Peter

It has been three days since my last connection. I'm now in sunny, sunny Florida, sitting my the pool, sneaking onto someone's hot spot. Thank god for WiFi. There really was going to be a show this week-really-but you know what? It's just too much work. I'm not giving up my vacation for one extra show. I've recorded a few bits on my way down, but they're probably not worth playing. Good news is the TSA didn't try to confiscate my audio equipment. The other good news is that by the time I get back the brand new mics will be waiting for me. And your ears will feel that much better for it. BTW, thanks to everyone who's signed our listener map so far: Anna, Stridey, David, Victoria (who wins for distance), Shagg, Kelly, Chris, and our two newest members Brian and Colleen. Thanks, guys! You make it all worthwhile.

It's another show! Finally! I just ordered two brand spankin' new XM8500s (those are microphones, BTW), so maybe that'll motivate us to do the show on a more, shall we say, existent schedule. Anyhow, it's a great show despite the mics. We have a special guest, a new sound effect, and no notes. We're flying by the seat on of our collective pants in this week's show, where you'll hear SarahKat say: "I've decided that my gut has shit for brains." Peter (PS, Update: I got really, really confused when I explained what music we were going to play during the show. Somewhere along the line I forgot all about the first song we mentioned, by Andrew K. Stone, et al. We'll play it next time. I promise. In the mean time, check the show notes below to be sure of what we did play.) Show notes:

I should have posted earlier: no show this (last) week. We recorded one on Tuesday, but the recording nevver came out. I bought some neew equipment today, though, so this (coming) week's show will almost certainly work out correctly. We're also probably in the market for new mics. Let me know if you know whether the Behringer XM8500 is as good as some people say (some claim it's slightly better than an SM58). In other news, we may or may not have a slot at WXBC. More on that in the next episode.

I just went to Barnes and Noble and finally spent what turned out to be over $100 in old gift cards. My initial hope had been to get the first two issues of MAKE Magazine, but as they didn't have back issues, I went looking for something else intriguing. How could I pass up Michael Geohegan and Dan Klass's Podcast Solutions? At first I thought we might be beyond what it covers, but Podcast Solutions covers not only the basics of recording, but also more general tips on how to put together an entertaining and engaging show. I'll let you know what I think once I get into it.

Hey, guys, we're back for more. And so are you. How delightful. This show is more or less about Soccergirl. Yes that Soccergirl. Why? You'll just have to listen, won't you? Very cool announcements, weird news stories, and a scanner you'll have to near to believe are all in this edition of our weekly podcast. Enjoy! Peter (PS, For those who don't know, "weekly" is a technical podcasting term coined by Scott Fletcher. It means "every so often when we manage to get a show together".) Show notes:

We've got a new number! Thanks to my negligence, our old number became "inactive", and someone else scooped it up. So now we're moving on over to the Dawn and Drew neighborhood. The last four digits are the same, but now we're at: (206) 666-JOTR Give us a call, let us know that you listen. We even take requests! What for, we're not sure yet, but why don't you tell us?

We're back! Er, back-ish. No radio slot yet, but at least we're still doing the podcast, thanks in large part to my beautiful new iriver. This week's (month's?) show is the saga of our quest to get back on the airwaves. Don't miss the gripping side plot in which I attempt to survive hell week for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead! Plus some absolutely awesome podsafe tracks, hot off the PMN. You've never heard a Jesus on the Radio like this. Big thanks to Chub Creek for our intro. Yes, that's right, the same Chub Creek we haven't emailed back. There's an email coming, guys. With attachments. Peter Show notes:

Yeah, we suck. Sorry. SarahKat and I saw each other once over winter break, at New Year's, and we did actually manage to do a show then, but that was about it. We just got back to school at the beginning of this week. Of course, it'll take some time for WXBC to sort out the applications and get a show schedule set, so until then we don't have access to the studio. But never fear! I have just spend too much money on a brand spankin' new (well, factory recertified) iriver iFP-899. Sidebar: I bought it two days ago, and it arrived today. Overstock.com, you've won my loyalty. What does this mean to you? It means that we can get going recording a new show before the live radio show starts up again without all the technical foibles you heard over break! Plus, we'll be able to do some mobile recording. We've got plans for a soundseeing tour of Bard College, man on the street interviews, and all sorts of look-ma-no-studio goodness. So stay subscribed, won't you? We'll talk to you soon!

Oops! Turns out the last post has been pointing at an old episode for over a week. Apparently I uploaded something all wrong. It should be good now. I've also enclosed it with this entry, in case your podcatcher thinks it already has that show. If you get it twice, sorry. I'll try to pay more attention to what I'm doing next time. |

This week's show comes to you not-at-all-live from the basement of SarahKat's boyfriend's house. We're here to celebrate the New Year, and what better way to do that than by bringing you, our lovely listener, along for a wild ride, full of mic humming and technical foibles. Join us, won't you? Seriously, the show came out pretty well considering our "mobile studio" was slowly deteriorating around us throughout the show. Hence the extra-long editing time. Not sure when the next show will be, since we're in different states again, but maybe we'll figure out how to do it over the phone. Don't forget to use our new URL, http://www.jesusontheradio.com. And remember, if you've listened once, you're a listener, and that qualifies you to be on the Listener Map! Peter (PS, Our listener comment line is still open to take your calls: (206) 339-JOTR. Your assignment is to leave us the wackiest comment you can, anonymously. Go!) Show notes:
